Octavarium
Wednesday, August 25, 2010
Progressive Rock is not usually my thing... But after being forced by my boyfriend to listen to "Octavarium" by Dream Theatre I was surprised that I didn't hate it. Don't get me wrong though, it was a bit tedious listening to all 20 something minutes(!) of the song and there were a few guitar solos that went for just that bit too long. What I was impressed with was that the song never got boring considering how long it is! Whoever wrote the song managed to keep the music interesting but maintaining the feeling all at the same time.
However, I think that I'm going to be sticking to my Indie and Singer/Songwriter... Don't worry John Mayer and Lykke Li, I haven't forgotten you just yet!

Procrastination, you are not welcome here
Sunday, August 22, 2010
I think I have a talent for procrastinating. I've managed to get through most of the day without studying for exams... My procrastination has become so bad that I've even cleared out all of my old documents on the computer that I don't need. If anyone's got a cure for this, I'd love to hear it!

There's Something in the Water...

What I'm listening to:
"There's Something in The Water"
This song has been on repeat all day and I think it gets better every time! Brooke Fraser is one of my favourite artists and I don't seem to ever get bored of her music... When I first heard her new single I was surprised about the Bluegrass feel of the song but now I'm quite liking it. This is quite upbeat for her don't you think?
I've seen her live when she came to New Plymouth on her Albertine Tour a couple of years ago and also at Parachute Music Festival a couple of times. There's something about her that makes everyone love her... Maybe it's because she's beautiful, has an amazing voice, is so talented and down to earth...
