Sorry about not posting much in the last week or so. My best friend from Sydney is over for the holidays and we have been so busy catching up and cramming every possible thing into the last couple of days that I've had no time at all to update... In the last three days we have managed to go op shopping, shopping, climbed Paritutu, gone to Back Beach, had a Primary School reunion, gone to a bonfire, walked along the walkway,  caught up with old friends, documented everything onto a video camera and of course taken a million photos! So in the next week I'll put some photos up to show you what we have gotten up to.

By the way, my friend is a very talented photographer. The photos above are from her. Check out her blog here

BIG JET PLANE

What I'm Listening To:

Big Jet Plane by Angus and Julia Stone

Like A Star by Corrine Bailey Rae

In A Tree and Dream by Priscilla Ahn

As you can see, I have a very distinctive music taste. I need a decent melody preferably with cute lyrics and a singer with a good voice. Angus and Julia Stone are one of my favourite duos and their new single "Big Jet Plane" wasn't a let down for me at all. I've had it on repeat ever since I downloaded it this afternoon... My friend introduced me to Priscilla Ahn's music and I love it! Her voice is amazing and I'm so jealous of her talent! I wish I could sing like her... Or sing at all...

HELLO GOODBYE

Yet another dreary grey day today... I'm praying for better weather because my best friend from Sydney is coming at precisely 6pm tonight to stay with me for the week. It's not exactly exciting being inside all the time...

I forgot about these photos so I decided to put them on now. The outfit isn't that interesting but I love the denim vest. The years and years of hording clothes has finally paid off! It used to be my older sisters when she was about 10 years old and now I can use it for a crop denim vest! Genius...

And just letting you know that sometimes the title of my posts can be totally irrelevant but that's because I usually have no idea what to name them. So instead I just put a lyric or the title of the song I'm listening to at the time. This time it just so happens to be "Hello Goodbye" by the Beatles.

vest: vintage
top: ezibuy
belt: vintage
scarf: cotton on
pants: umm... (memory failure)

Some inspiration for the start of the weekend... I'm becoming a bit of a fan of Stefany Alves. Her photography is beautiful but so simple. I guess that's the beauty of it though!

Now, off to watch Gilmore Girls. Ahh... Holidays I love you!

NZ FASHION WEEK- DAY 2 & 3

Thursday, September 23, 2010

These are some of my favourites from days 2 and 3 of NZFW:

Of course, the much anticipated Twenty Seven Names. The collection was inspired by the 90's high school fashion. Simple lines and feminine designs were typical of their previous collections. P.s. I love the socks with the boots...

Nicole Miller's collection was mainly black with some exceptions of white. Amazing backs to some of her dresses!

And of course the iconic New Zealand designer Trelise Cooper. My favourite part of her collection was the military jackets (especially the khaki one in the second photo):

NZ FASHION WEEK- DAY ONE

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Unfortunately I can't be in Auckland right now enjoying New Zealand Fashion Week... Luckily, there is a little thing called "technology" and I have been watching the shows via the internet. Thank god for that! From Day One, my favourite designer had to be Juliette Hogan. Her collection was feminine and minimalist with great tailoring. What I love about her clothes is that they are classic and you would easily be able to wear  them without getting weird looks from the road workers across the street... One of my favourites of hers is the cream dress. Simple but timeless:

I also really like her Spring/Summer '10 collection, Textbook Beautiful:

Other designers I'm looking forward to seeing are Twenty Seven Names:

And Celine Rita:

WHAT I WOULD WEAR RIGHT NOW

If I had my own way, I would be wearing this right now! Leather shorts are at  the top of my "Want" list at the moment and are closely followed by lace up boots. I'm loving the brogue boots, a great alternative to the boots everyone is wearing right now...

What I'm Listening To:

I'm loving this song at the moment! The music video did not disappoint either. Sara Bareilles is so cute in this and I love how she plays the piano with the cutlery. Such an original idea!

BAMBOO AND A SWING

I got up an hour early this morning for no reason... I thought I had music practice but as it turns out, I wasn't meant to go. Not the greatest start to my Sunday morning. So to use up some time I decided to take a drive to the beach and was met by flooding in the carpark. I forgot about the massive storm in the night... Someone's out to get me, I swear...

Well, I hope everyone elses Sundays are going a bit better than mine! x

LEANNE MARSHALL

Friday, September 17, 2010

Project Runway has just started again on New Zealand television. Watching it, I remembered season 5's winner, Leanne Marshall. I must say, she was always my favourite from the very beginning... I love her simplistic but detailed designs and the beautiful materials she uses. Her tailoring and draping really sets her apart from other designers. I think she's a designer to watch out for!

This dress was my favourite from her Project Runway collection. The detailed top and draping is amazing and I love the floaty material she used for the skirt.
