HONG KONG DISNEYLAND

Monday, January 24, 2011

So of course I had to do a whole post dedicated to Disneyland! This was my first time I went to Disneyland and it was amazing! It literally is like a whole other world when you step inside. From the music, the characters and buildings, even the staff who had their own costumes! I went with my younger sister and my younger self was definately brought out that day. I have to admit, I even squealed when I saw Minnie Mouse...

HONG KONG PART TWO

The next extreme of my shopping in Hong Kong consisted of the markets which were much much cheaper compared to the shops. Although, there wasn't much clothing that interested me... The jewellery was quite amazing and there was lots of present type trinkets. One day we went to Stanley where the beach was but it was nothing compared to the beaches in New Zealand or Australia. Rather disappointing actually...

HONG KONG PART ONE

Friday, January 21, 2011

Next, we went to Hong Kong for ten days. All the skyscrapers had christmas decorations and one night we went on the ferry to see a christmas display that was on the harbour. In my time there, I caught up with family friends, experienced the local cuisine and of course lots of shopping! I guess I could say my shopping was two different extremes. Higher end shops and chain stores versus the markets. The shop I was most looking forward to was H&M since we don't have one in New Zealand. However, in the end I didn't buy that much... I bought a black blazer, black and white bodycon skirt and some rings which I'll share with you another day.

KUALA LUMPUR

Thursday, January 20, 2011

First stop of my holiday was Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. We were only here for a couple of days so I didn't have time to do too much. Of course, one of the first things we had to do was see the Petronas Towers, one of the highest skyscrapers in the world. We went at night and they were magnificent all lit up!

Some of the architecture was amazing. The buildings were so elaborate and it looked like lots of work was put into the construction of them. I also did a bit of shopping and went to the markets. But other than that, I didn't do much else...

P.s. I realised that the next couple of posts may not be that fashion related... so bear with me please haha

HOME SWEET HOME!

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Yes, I'm back! Sorry that it's been so long since I last blogged, but now that I'm home I'll be able to again. My holiday was truely amazing and I have so many story and photos to share with you. But instead of bombing you with EVERYTHING, I thought that it would be better to do a post about each of the places that I went to... starting from tomorrow! But for now I want to reflect on the past year and tell you my plans for my blog this year...

So much happenned last year for me! Including starting this blog. At first I had no clue where I was going with this. And in a way, I still don't really know. What I do know now is that I think I prefer to be behind the camera taking the photos rather than be in them. It's often quite difficult to get a photo exactly how you want it when you are in it unless you have a really good photographer... So from now, the object of my photos may be a bit different.

In my time away, I've learnt that the best person you can be is just you. Nowadays, so many people are trying to find their identity through image, fashion and things that are considered "cool". I don't have a problem with this but I've learnt that it shouldn't consume you. For instance, if you love flared jeans but they aren't in fashion then you shouldn't let that stop you from wearing them! So all in all, I just want to say that don't be afraid to be yourself! I know that this is one of my biggest new years resolutions.
All the best for 2011!

Love Sophie
Xx
