This is really bad everyone. I've just discovered a new online store called SheInside that ships worldwide for free!! PLUS, the prices are so reasonable. I've been having a bit of a browse through their website and I came across this skort that looks identical to the Zara one! FYI skort = skirt + short. It has the perfect length and the cut is really flattering. Also, considering I live in the windiest place in New Zealand, this is perfect as it won't ever fly up!
My birthday's in August. Is it too early to make a birthday wishlist...?

Lately I've been stuck in a rut with what to wear everyday. Study week may contribute to this considering I've been staying in my pyjamas nearly every day while being stuck inside at my desk! I've been trying to dress in a more 'classic' way and have been sticking to neutral colours: black, browns, navy blue etc. Oh and don't forget denim of course! These photos pretty much encompass my outfits these days.

First of all, as you can all tell, I suck at making collage things. And as soon as I finished (gave up) I realised that's why Polyvore was invented. Well, you get the gist of it anyway! These are a few items I've been wanting to buy but just don't have the money for at the moment. I think my style has become much more minimalist and classic. I also think that "fashion" or "trends" can often be over-rated and the best type of dresser is someone who can dress for their body type. I want to wear clothes where I don't look back on photos and cringe.

Hi everyone! Thought I'd do something a little bit different today. These are a few of my everyday beauty products plus or minus a few other things. I recently invested in a high-end foundation from Mac and I'm currently loving it! There were a few mishaps though with my shade match and I ended up having to exchange it twice! Third time lucky though and I ended up getting MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC35 which is a perfect match for me. Initially I was a bit worried about it looking too heavy on me but I apply it straight after my moisturiser and only use the tiniest bit so hopefully it should last me a while. As you can see, I'm a big user of Maybelline but this is purely coincidence. Also, if you haven't been to Lush or haven't tried any of their products then you definitely should! I love that shop!

Here's to a completely "The Great Gatsby" inspired post. I've been looking forward to this movie for SO long but it isn't released in New Zealand until the 30th of May so still have a long way to go until I can see it. The trailer looks amazing with the incredible sets and costumes!

Also, if I had more patience and better nails I would do this!

Recently I went to Auckland for a mini holiday to visit a few of my best friends and I had the best time! It was the first time that I had really visited the city rather than just passing through. My trip basically consisted of art, coffee and sight seeing. Loved it all!!

As a student, I have to find ways to meet my budget so I've become a bit of a bargain-shopper. Most of my wardrobe consists of sale items and second-hand clothes and I only spend a lot of money on staple items such as boots or jackets. I'm also a bit addicted to trawling through online shops (particularly ones with free shipping!) and hunting for a bargain. In New Zealand we're particularly lucky because we get a student discount with a number of shops such as Boo Hoo and ASOS.

Anyway, getting to the point... I always look out for dupes of items that are outside of my budget. In this case, I found an exact dupe of the American Apparel Denim Circle Skirt on Boo Hoo for half the price! Plus it doesn't look as short as the American Apparel one which is always a good thing. Of The Places We'll Go And The People We'll See

Monday, March 25, 2013

I was looking through my images folder on my laptop the other day and noticed that the majority of photos that I save to my computer are travel-based and it's making me want to go overseas more and more! I've been to a fair share of places over the time but I've never made it to a European country and seeing these photos makes me wish I could go and visit. The first country on my priority list would have to be Greece since I've loved what I've seen media wise and I'm also minoring in Classical Studies at uni so I'd love to go and see all of the places that I've studied.

Note: I can't quite remember where I got each photo but the majority come from here and here

Mail Delivery

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Wow, ultimate crappy photo of the dress... Yay for shitty cameras! But yes, this is my first mail delivery to the new flat. I haven't been shopping for nearly 3 months which feels like forever for me! Since I've become a poor student, I've been forced to make these sacrifices. However, since I worked full time over the summer I thought I'd treat myself to some online shopping. I bought these two items on Boohoo and I was surprised how good the quality was! The sizing is pretty accurate as well. PLUS there's free shipping so it's a win/win for NZ customers.

Long Time No See

Wellington - Oriental Parade

Hi there, where in the world has Sophie been?? Between moving to a new city, starting uni and making new friends, I had left the blogisphere in order to try to deal with what life was throwing at me. I wanted to focus on these new changes without worrying about how it would look online or about how I was going to capture my life on camera. Now, not going to lie but the fact that I can't get to sleep at 1:30AM or that I have exhausted all of my internet outlets may or may not mean that I'm posting this... I don't even know if anyone out there in the world is going to even read this but alas, I carry on.

As you may see, I have updated the look of the blog in order for it to look less 16 year old and I sincerely hope I have succeeded. I have no idea if I'm going to regularly post on here and have even less of an idea of what exactly is going to emerge on my little section of the internet.

So, 2 years on: SophieJoy presents to you a compilation of her weird and wonderful thoughts.

P.s. big congratulations go out to anyone who managed to get to the end of this gabble.
